The Message We Tell

If you were to die today, and then God asked you “Why should I allow you to enter into my Heaven?”, what would you answer? There are FIVE IMPORTANT TRUTHS that will tell you the answer to this question.

TRUTH 1: To enter into Heaven (eternal life) is a free gift.

Heaven is a place of beauty, peace and rest. Heaven is a place where there is no pain, no crying, no sorrow, and even no death. Heaven is a holy place where there is no sin. Heaven is a place much better than anywhere on earth! Moreover, to enter into Heaven is a free gift.

The Bible says: “ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

It is true, God wants you to go to Heaven. God gives eternal life as a free GIFT!

TRUTH 2: We do not deserve to receive the gift of Heaven. Why?

Because all people are sinners. The Bible says: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). The Bible says we are born with a desire to commit sins. It makes no difference if you are rich or if you are poor, if you are young or if you are old. All of us have sinned. No matter if you always do good works, you are still a sinner.

There is no man who can save himself: There are no works (or good things) that you can do to go to Heaven.  The Bible says: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

God says that you cannot work so that you deserve to go to Heaven. God does not want you to think that “I am better than other people, for that reason I will enter Heaven for the things I have done.”

All of these things cannot take you to Heaven:
- Obeying the 10 Commandments
- Receiving baptism
- Good works like helping the poor.
- Giving money to the church.
- Church confirmation or catechism
- Going for prayers every Sunday.
- Doing all of the sacraments.

The Bible says that the good things that you are doing will not help you at all: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.” (Titus 3:5)

TRUTH 3: There is a penalty for your sins.

The Bible tells us many times that our sins are “against the Lord” (Leviticus 6:2). Our sins annoy a holy God.

You must pay for your sins. The Bible says: “The wages (payment) of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23). God’s wrath will remain on you until you receive his gift of eternal life.  The Bible says: “He that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36).

God will judge you for your sins: The Bible says that God is “the righteous judge” (2 Timothy 4:8). Because God is a righteous judge, He must punish you for your sins.

The judgment for sin is eternal suffering in the lake of fire.  The Bible says in the book of Revelation 20:13-14 that “Death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

TRUTH 4: God loves you and he gave Jesus as your only way to go to Heaven.

God does not want you to go to hell. He gave you a way to have eternal life and live with him in Heaven. The Bible says that “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

Jesus is God’s only way for you to go to Heaven. There is no person who is going to Heaven unless they believe in Jesus alone. Jesus says that “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6).

It is not the church, or the priest, or some organization that will give you eternal life.  It is only Jesus who can give you eternal life.  Jesus alone suffered on the cross for all of your sins.  You cannot add works to what Jesus did on the cross.

Who exactly is Jesus Christ? Jesus is fully man and moreover again is fully God. Jesus came down from Heaven.  Jesus says that “I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me” (John 6:38). Jesus said He is God: “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). Because Jesus is God, He could live a sinless life. Because He lived as a man, He was able to pay for your sins through His death.  The Bible says, “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:8).

What did Jesus Christ do for us? Jesus came from Heaven, was born as a baby, lived a sinless life and died on the cross for our sins. “But God commendeth (showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” (Romans 5:8-9). “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).

Three days after his death on the cross, Jesus rose from the dead!  In the book of Mark 16:6, the angel says that “Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen.”

Jesus can give you much happiness in your heart. Jesus wants to free you from the penalty of your sins and to give you eternal life!

So how do you receive this gift of eternal life? BY FAITH.

TRUTH 5: Faith in Jesus Christ is the Answer

Faith is not just believing some religious teachings. Many people accept that Jesus lived and then died, but they have not believed in Jesus alone as their Saviour. Many people accept that Jesus rose again from the dead, but they have not believed in Jesus alone as their Saviour.  Again, many people think that they need to do good works before receiving salvation – They have not believed on Jesus alone as their Saviour.

Faith is believing that there is nothing you can do for you to go to heaven.  Faith is trusting Jesus Christ alone for eternal life!

The Bible says in Romans 10:9,13 that “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

How do you call on the name of the Lord? You stop trusting in what you can do and then believe in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life. You don’t try to do good things or stop sinning to go to Heaven. You need to completely accept what Jesus has done for you.

God does not ask you to go to a school, sit for an examination, or even be baptized before you accept His gift.  When you believe on Jesus alone as your Saviour, God saves you immediately.  The Bible says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31). Salvation is immediate!

After God saves you, the Bible teaches that you cannot lose eternal life (even if you backslide from faith). The Bible says, “God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” (1 John 5:11).  Moreover Jesus says in the Bible: “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)  Everyone who believes is given “everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24)

If you have believed on Jesus Christ alone as your Saviour, God promises that you are saved. The Bible says in John 3:36 that “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.”   If you have believed in Jesus, the Bible says that all your sins are forgiven: “God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

Why not pray and thank God for the gift of eternal life He has given to you? This prayer is not a work that you do to receive salvation, but it is good to thank God for the gift of eternal life that he has given you.

Dear God, I agree that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus shed his blood and died for me on the cross. I believe Jesus rose from the dead. Dear Jesus, thank you for helping me to understand and believe that You have paid the complete price for my sin. Thank you for giving me the gift of eternal life. In Jesus Name, Amen.
